Hey, Jess here!
Gosh, I'm tired. I had to work more and longer shifts while I also barely sleep the last few weeks. It's very tough, but I do need the money.
I really wanted to give some insight on what kind of art I prefer to make. Even though it's quite varied, there is something to say about. Maybe I should start at the beginning (which makes sense, of course).
As a child I was really bad at drawing, like REALLY bad. Every time I had to draw something at school, I immediatly felt down. "Great, another chance to fail", I always thought. But somehow that changed. Though I'm not sure when and how, there was a moment I started to draw at home. I looked up (simple) pictures of mostly animals and mystical creatures. I only had 1 kind of pencil back than and normal paper, so I had to do with that, but I just started to draw them as best as I could. That was the moment I realised 2 things: I wasn't bad at drawing as long as I could draw something that I actually liked and I was even better at drawing if I had references (which I never had at school).
This way, I filled up many pages and books with drawings. I bought better pencils and paper and drew almost every day. Even at school I was drawing when I was supposed to pay attention (oops). But still, when I had to draw for a schoolproject, I was never happy with the results.
After I got better at drawing, I had many periods in which I focused on different subjects. For example; there was a period I only drew manga/anime characters, another time I only drew animals or portrets, etc. I also started to use other things than just my graphite pencils. I started to use colored pencils, acrylic paint, oil paint and pastels. Because of this, my Art Gallery will become more varied everytime I update it, haha.
Also, a few weeks ago I got my first drawing tablet. I'm really, really happy with it. I can do so much more now than before. Though, it's still a bit difficult and I still have to get fully used to, but I know it will all work out.
In general, I'm definitly not that good with art. There are so many people out there who have much more talent and skills than I'll probably ever have. But really, that won't stop me. I love art. Drawing and painting make me forget every bad thing, it makes me feel so peaceful. To be honest, when I don't draw for a while, you can be sure something's wrong with me.
And with that, I'll end it for now.
To be continued...
